MANIFEST VI: Distant Relatives

Join us for MANIFEST VI, which will feature two phenomenal acts. We are very fortunate to showcase Tom Cordell, who is an acclaimed jazz trumpeter, and Two People Playing Music, a post-rock/post jazz band that just released an album and have been on tour since early March.

Tom has made a name for himself playing all over the country. In Chattanooga, Tom has performed in the Riverbend Festival and the Nightfall series. He is an a...ficionado of post-bebop jazz, and cites Miles Davis as a personal hero. He’ll be accompanied by several members of The Undoctored Originals.

Two People Playing Music just released their album While No One’s Watching. They have been touring all over the Southeast and stopped by to play MANIFEST Presents… on March 12th. For fans of post-rock bands such as Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai, you will have a golden opportunity to indulge in your own backyard.

MANIFEST VI will be held on April 15th at The Camp House (1427 Williams St.). Admission is $8. Doors open at 8. Showtime is at 9.

Fate?

I’m a big believer in signs, and a lot of people have been asking about exactly what happened with The Speakeasy and The Office. I’ll gladly clear all that up when the time’s right, but until then, for those of you who do know, check out these horoscopes that I finally got around to looking at. Fate?

Friday, Mar 11th, 2011 -- You are facing a significant turning point as you are being forced to let go of your assumptions about your daily routine. Wherever your life has become too mechanized, lightning can strike and infuse new energy back into it. If you are flexible, this can be quite exciting; however, if you are fearful of change, this can be upsetting. Letting go of the past will help you be more fulfilled in the future.

Sunday, Mar 13th, 2011 -- Your key planet Pluto symbolizes the intensity of feelings within the shadows of your subconscious mind. Today, a square to Pluto from messenger Mercury shines the light on an undeniable fact. Perhaps someone will ask you a tough question that sends you on a journey within. Don't avoid the difficult issues; make time for an important conversation because you'll feel a lot better after a well-kept secret is out in the open.

Monday, Mar 14th, 2011 -- Instead of attempting to convince others that your plan is a solid one today, spend time examining your weaknesses to understand how they may be forcing you to overcompensate. Rather than focusing on your own progress, see what you can learn from others without trying to one-up them. Although you are willing to jump into the fray again, remember that coming out ahead is less important than turning every moment into another chapter in your journey of self-discovery.

Blessings

March Madness

Hey folks,

A lot’s happened since I last posted (I’ve been busy, what can I say?). I’ll dive in and update you good peeps on what’s been shaking out.

First, The Speakeasy will NO LONGER be at The Office. Everyone’s been asking about what happened, and, you can rest assured that the details will be emerging. I want to let you all know that The Speakeasy is still very much in tact. You can expect to see a number of us performing in some upcoming shows. Also, the open-mic will be coming back at a new venue in the near future.

Second, tonight will be our second MANIFEST event for March. Last night’s show with Darren Johnson and Ryan Oyer was great. Both Ryan and Darren put on clinics on why they are who they are. As a special bonus, L-Poole and Marcus Ellsworth performed a few poems as well.

I’m very confident that tonight’s show will be equally amazing. I’m looking forward to seeing (there’s going to be a grand visual component) and hearing what our two acts break out.

By the way, we have MANIFEST t-shirts available. I picked them up yesterday and they look really good. I’m very satisfied. If you’re interested in purchasing one, they are $12 each.

On Tuesday, March 15th, I’ll be performing at Chattitup, which is the baby of Allied Arts. It’s an open-mic where the participants have the opportunity to perform for two minutes and showcase what they do. You can get the details off the picture below.

I have a new poem called Passage. I premiered it at Speakeasy on the 9th, and it’s the hardest poem that I’ve ever personally performed. I might try to record it in the near future. If that happens, I’ll gladly throw the link up on here so you good people can check it out for yourselves.

Speaking of audio, we recorded the MANIFEST Love & Other Struggles show. In addition to that, I just received some mp3s of Marcus Ellsworth and me performing with The Undoctored Originals. I plan to throw all the tracks onto cds and distribute them for free at our events. Let me know what you think of the idea.

So, a good friend of mine named Lynn Buckner has a publication called DEBACLE. It debuted around Halloween, and the DEBACLE crew is currently accepting submissions for the new issue. The deadline is March 31st, which will be here before you know it. Here’s some info on DEBACLE:
